Policies and Academic Expectations

Academic Integrity

FCIS values honesty and integrity:

  • – Plagiarism, cheating, or academic dishonesty results in consequences (zero on assignments, parent conferences, disciplinary action).
  • – Teaches proper citation, research ethics, and the importance of original work—skills critical for university.

Attendance

  • – Regular attendance is mandatory for academic success.
  • – Excused absences (illness, family emergencies) require parent/doctor notes; students have equal days to make up work.
  • – Unexcused absences (tardiness, unreported absences) result in disciplinary action (detention, loss of privileges).

Homework Expectations

  • – G7–G8: 60–90 minutes/day to reinforce skills without overload.
  • – G9–G12: 90–120 minutes/day (more for AP/A-Level courses) to build independent learning.
  • – Homework is meaningful (not redundant) and aligned with classroom learning.

Assessment Practices

  • – Grading system: Letter grades (A–F) and GPA (weighted for AP/A-Level) for university transcripts.
  • – Progress reports (weekly/biweekly) and parent-teacher conferences keep families informed.
  • – Late work policy: 2-day grace period for excused late submissions; 10% deduction per day for unexcused late work.

Behavior Standards

  • – Students are expected to treat peers, teachers, and staff with respect.
  • – No bullying, inappropriate language, or disruptive behavior (see Anti-Bully Policy for details).
  • – Consequences for misconduct are restorative (reflection, reparative action) and progressive.

Digital Responsibility

  • – Electronic devices are used for learning only during class (with teacher permission).
  • – No gaming, social media, or inappropriate content during school hours.
  • – Respect for others’ privacy (no recording/photographing without permission).

Dress Expectations

  • – Neat, appropriate attire that reflects school pride (uniforms for PE; casual but respectful clothing for classes).
  • – No excessive jewelry, makeup, or clothing with inappropriate messages

Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA)

Our ECA (Extra-Curricular Activities) program is an integral part of our school community, offering a diverse range of enriching opportunities for students to explore their passions, develop new skills, and broaden their horizon beyond the classroom.
